[Th-P2-C-03] Persistent Spin Grids in Spin-Orbit-Coupled 2D Electron Systems

We show that spin relaxation is drastically suppressed in an electron gas confined to a properly designed grid of narrow channels. We establish a topological classification of such persistent spin grids and suggest their use for simulating lattice gauge theories.
