We study phonon-induced resistance oscillations (PIROs) in a Hall bar made from an ultra-high mobility GaAs/AlGaAs quantum well structure at high applied DC current when the drift velocity can exceed the acoustic phonon velocity. A pi/2 phase change effect is observed in PIROs transitioning from the “subsonic” to the “supersonic” regime.
