The study demonstrates that incorporating inter-subband transitions induced by off-diagonal effective mass (ODEM) allows the drift velocity in Si quantum wells to correctly converge to the bulk value in the wide-well limit, resolving the inaccuracies inherent in the standard single-subband acceleration theorem.
