Using time- and polarization-resolved terahertz spectroscopy, we observed a light-induced valley polarization dynamics in Ge. The experiment shows the long-lived valley polarization with a large signal amplitude and controllability by mid-infrared pulses, suggesting the potential for practical valleytronics applications.
