We formulate and justify several proposals for using quasi-one-dimensional carbon-based nanostructures, such as narrow-gap carbon nanotubes, graphene nanoribbons, bipolar graphene waveguides, long polyyne chains, and cyclocarbons, as tunable sources of coherent terahertz radiation.
