images of planets

Amateur astronomers around the world continue to capture images of the planets every night. Advances in technology have made it possible to capture images with resolution comparable to that of space probes. Images of Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and even close approaches of Mars are now available almost every night. These images are promptly made public on planetary observation organization websites, such as https://alpo-j.sakura.ne.jp/indexE.htm. Some images are also compiled into video. Observers hope that these images will contribute to research and education. Surprisingly, however, planetariums still use images of Jupiter taken by Voyager 1 in 1979. We will propose ways to incorporate these images into routine planetarium screenings.
