In producing a program commemorating the 100th anniversary of the planetarium, we conducted research on the Classic Carl Zeiss opto-mechanical Planetarium existing in Japan (Mark II at the Osaka Science Museum, Mark IV at Cosmo Planetarium Shibuya, UPP 23/3 at the Akashi Municipal Planetarium, and Mark IV at the Nagoya City Science Museum) to recreate the Zeiss planetarium using 3DCG. Our findings revealed differences based on the production era and whether the planetariums were manufactured in East or West Germany.
This presentation introduces these specific differences and discusses the presumed divergent development paths inferred by comparing East and West German planetariums.
We will also touch upon the Mark III model, which bridges the gap between the Mark II and Mark IV.
