[R3-10]Olivine-spinel transformation under shear deformation: Conditions for transformation-induced weakening

Recent developments of high-pressure deformation apparatus such as D-DIA and D-111 type guideblock enable us to perform quantitative deformation experiments combined with synchrotron X-ray up to lower mantle pressures. By using these technieques, we are conducting olivine-spinel transfomation experiments in Fe2SiO4 and Mg2SiO4 under shear deformation. In this presentation, preliminary results of the syn-deformational transformation experiments, and briefly discuss about conditions for reaction-induced weakening.
