[R3P-12]Olivine-Spinel transition under uniaxial deformation - the condition of shear instability

It has been suggested that the origin of deep-focus earthquake is related to the non-equilibrium phase transition of metastable olivine. However, the mechanism is still unrevealed. We experimented olivine-spinel transition with multi-anvil high pressure apparatus and in-situ observation. We also combined Acoustic Emission system, and search the relation between shear instability and olivine-spinel transition
