In order to investigate the effect of microstructural evolution on permeability in polycrystalline rocks, we synthesized quartz aggregates having variable fluid fraction and XCO2 (CO2/H2O+CO2). Grain scale fluid pools were formed by coalescence of pore fluids during grain growth. By using 3D pore structures obtained with synchrotron X-ray microtomography, numerical computation of permeability was conducted. Computed permeabilities were compared with laboratory measurements and theoretical models.
