To elucidate the desorption behavior of heavy metals, experiments were conducted under various environmental conditions using soil collected at the Kamegai mine. As a result, the desorption concentration of Pb, Cu, Cd, and Zn decreased as the pH increased. These elements re-desorbed as the pH increased further. The behavior of desorption concentration decrease can be explained by the surface charge of the mineral, while the behavior of re-desorbing at high pH can be explained by the chemical species. This mechanism can be thermodynamically explained using surface complex modeling
