The rate of vaterite calcitization was studied experimentally in K- and Na-bearing aqueous solutions at 4ºC. The vaterite transformation rate was accelerated in the K-bearing solutions but inhibited in the Na-bearing solutions. Sulfur in solutions showed inhibition effects on the vaterite calcitization rate.
