Dr. Varun Shetty is a Senior Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at the Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Bangalore, India. His clinical interests include aortic surgery, the Ross operation, homograft valve replacement, aortic arch and thoracoabdominal aortic repair, cardiac and lung transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, pulmonary thromboendarterectomy, and septal myectomy. He is part of a high-volume tertiary referral centre performing over 8,000 cardiac surgeries annually. The institute hosts one of India’s leading dedicated aortic surgery programmes, having performed more than 3,400 aortic surgeries with an average annual volume of 300 cases. The programme has a strong focus on valve-preserving aortic root surgery, complex arch and thoracoabdominal repairs, hybrid aortic interventions, research, and surgical training.
