Pierre-Emmanuel Falcoz (Department of Thoracic Surgery, Strasbourg University Hospital, France)

Professor Pierre-Emmanuel Falcoz is a distinguished thoracic and cardiovascular surgeon affiliated with the Strasbourg University Hospitals in France. He also contributes to cutting-edge research as part of INSERM Unit 1260: Regenerative NanoMedicine. Appointed as a Professor of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery in 2009, he attained the prestigious rank of Distinguished Professor in 2022. Currently, he serves as the Head of the Department of Thoracic Surgery and Lung Transplantation at Nouvel Hopital Civil, Strasbourg, and is set to lead the Thoracic Pathology Division starting in 2024. Prof. Falcoz has been instrumental in shaping the field of thoracic surgery, exemplified by his role as Associate Editor of the European Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and his election as President of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons for the term 2025-2026. His academic achievements include a PhD(2006)and an Accreditation to Supervise Research(2007). He is Board Certified in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, with further credentials from the European Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons(2018). Prof. Falcoz has authored over 284 peer-reviewed publications, contributed to 54 book chapters, and achieved an H-index of 54, underscoring his influence in the field. As a leader in clinical research and a certified expert in ICH Good Clinical Practice, his contributions span thoracic surgery, lung transplantation, and thoracic oncology.
