The geometrical incompatibility of V1/V16 butterfly pairs in Fe-Ni-Cr-C lath martensite was evaluated by varying invariant plane deformations near the habit plane. The incompatibility of V1/V16 decreased only when the shape deformation direction was near the (100)γ trace.
