Laser surface melting was conducted on four Ti-based alloys to clarify the origin of unusual α′ martensite refinement in Ti6246. Localized ultrafine α′ formed only in Ti6246 under high-energy multi-track conditions, suggesting an alloy-specific response to repeated thermal history.
