Using first-principles calculations and liquid quenching, we controlled metastable Fe23B6 crystallization via third-element addition in Fe-B amorphous alloys. Promoting Fe23B6 against equilibrium α-Fe induced phase competition, which successfully enhanced the glass-forming ability.
