Cast-extruded LPSO-type Mg-3.0Ni-3.5Y-0.15Zr (at.%) alloy exhibited an elongation of 5.7% and an extremely high yield strength of 536 MPa. The α-Mg phase in this alloy has an MF structure, and it is believed that the high yield strength was achieved because both the LPSO phase and the α-Mg phase were kink-strengthened.
