Previous studies showed that opposite deformation against the applied shear contributes to kink strengthening and identified conditions for its occurrence. In this study, the deformation behavior of kink microstructures was analyzed by DIC to verify the theory. Results revealed that opposite deformation occurred under the proposed conditions.
