In recycled Al-Si cast alloys, Fe and Mn leads to the formation of coarse Fe-containing intermetallic phases. In this study, Al–Si alloys containing the impurity elements Fe and Mn were solidified under different cooling rates to investigate the effects of cooling rate on the solidification microstructure.
