In this study, a novel scanning strategy is proposed to achieve a single-crystal-like microstructure in the hexagonal Mg-0.5Ca alloy based on the heat flow and solidification directions predicted by thermal diffusion simulations. Furthermore, the mechanical properties of the L-PBF-fabricated Mg-0.5Ca alloy are investigated.
