We tested tensile-compressive fatigue of HIP-treated, additive manufactured maraging steel up to 109 cycles. HIP treatment improved fatigue strength throughout the life cycle. Furthermore, defect analysis revealed that HIP treatment minimized internal defects. This shows that reducing defects led to the improvement in fatigue strength.
