The two-step aging behavior of Al-1.0mass%Mg2Ge alloy was investigated by hardness testing, DSC, and TEM. Peak hardness decreased under all pre-aging conditions. TEM revealed coarse A-type precipitates, suggesting their involvement in the negative effect.
