The hydrolysis interface of Mg-In-Ga alloys was evaluated using FIB-SEM and EDS. Reaction surface protrusions had a top Mg-O product and a bottom Ga-In enriched layer with a continuous Mg gradient. These results and liquid-metal contact tests elucidated the Mg activation mechanism.
