Hot-work tool steel SKD61 was treated by carburizing and boriding to improve its surface properties. Boriding formed FeB and Fe₂B layers with a surface hardness above 2,200 HV. The treatment significantly enhanced wear and scratch resistance, demonstrating its effectiveness in improving durability and extending mold life.
