Solid-state diffusion bonding of steel and aluminum alloy was performed using interlayers. With Cu and Ni interlayers, FeCu₂Al₆, FeNiAl₉, and Al–Fe–Ni was observed. The effects of bonding conditions on the composition of intermetallic layers and the interfacial strength were systematically examined.
