PtおよびMo酸化物を内包した中空シリカ触媒を合成し、光熱変換型CO₂水素化反応に応用した。シェル構造の異なる中空シリカ触媒や担持型触媒との比較から、シェル厚さの低減がガス流通性の向上に、気孔率の増加が熱拡散率の低下に、中空構造が熱放射の抑制にそれぞれ寄与し、活性が向上することを明らかにした。
