本研究では、C₆₀フラーレンを初期試料として用いて、57GPaの圧力で衝撃圧縮を行った。試料のほとんどの領域は黒鉛に変換されていたが、局所的に球状物質が生成された。講演では、衝撃圧縮時のC₆₀フラーレンからの球状物質の創製までを議論する。
