We are inviting contributions form participants who is interested or has had personal experience in dealing with diversity issues, such as first-hand reports from role models (researchers at different stages of their carriers), as well as perspective views from leaders of research or educational institutions. We welcome submissions from researchers and students working in Japan, both Japanese and foreign, as well as from JpGU2019 participants from other countries. Contributions to this session will be synthesized to highlight the current state of workplace diversity in Japan, and to develop successful strategies and practices for improvement and maintaining diversity in Geosciences. This session is co-sponsored by the Union Symposium US 4 of EGU 2019 "Promoting and supporting equality of opportunities in geosciences" in order to share and exchange current status information with the EGU / AGU community.
