We have reported that Cu oxides catalysts interacting with PO4 units are effective for formaldehyde formation by partial oxidation of methane. In this study, we prepared catalysts with Cu oxides supported on various phosphates and evaluated their methane oxidation properties. The results showed that catalytic activity varied depending on the phosphate support used. Cu oxides on stannic pyrophosphate exhibited high activity and formaldehyde selectivity. It seems that this reactivity result from optimized interaction between the phosphate and the Cu oxides.
