Olefin production via light alkane dehydrogenation is a vital process for manufacturing basic chemicals. However, conventional catalysts face significant challenges, including high costs associated with noble metals and rapid deactivation caused by coking. In this study, we focus on a novel C-H bond activation mechanism that utilizes the basicity of inexpensive alkaline earth metal compounds. This presentation will detail the superbasicity exhibited by vacancy sites formed on calcium imide surfaces and the resulting unique catalytic performance for alkane dehydrogenation.
