In recent years, the advancement of digital technology for the fabrication of complete dentures has been marked in dentistry. The digitalized workflow has transformed processes traditionally reliant on the practitioners' experience into objective and data-driven methodologies. It allows for more efficient and reproducible design and fabrication workflows.
Our team is developing a database to accumulate three-dimensional data on complete dentures and their clinical outcomes in the University of Osaka Dental Hospital. This database enables quantitative and multifaceted analysis of associations between three-dimensional characteristics of complete dentures and oral function. Furthermore, it facilitates the evaluation of residual ridge morphology and maxillomandibular relationship. By integrating computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology, we aim to provide functionally optimized dentures efficiently.
This presentation will introduce our research findings, as well as the potential of CAD/CAM technology to address the diverse needs of clinical practice.
