超高齢社会においてアクティブシニアの増加が進むなか，口腔機能の維持・改善を目的とした補綴治療の重要性は高まっている．とりわけ，将来的な欠損拡大を見据え，その影響を最小限にとどめる視点に基づく補綴装置の選択は，臨床上の重要な課題である．しかし，欠損拡大の分岐点となり得る臼歯部遊離端欠損症例に対する治療選択については，明確な臨床的根拠は十分ではない．本セッションでは，同症例に焦点を当て，補綴装置の違いが欠損拡大に与える影響について，最新の研究と臨床的視点から議論し，臨床意思決定の在り方を考察する
