Practical pharmacology education using Pharmacology Role-play:development towards Interprofessional Education

Effective pharmacotherapy requires accurate pharmacological knowledge to ensure the appropriate prescription, dispensing, and administration of medications; thus, collaboration among physicians, dentists, pharmacists, and nurses is essential. Pharmacology role-play represents an active learning strategy that enables learners to acquire competencies necessary for pharmacotherapy through simulated clinical practice. Utilizing this approach, several interprofessional education programs have been implemented between medicine and pharmacy, medicine and nursing, as well as pharmacy and nursing. Furthermore, pharmacology role-play has been adopted in several dental schools. This symposium aims to present examples of interprofessional pharmacology role-play and to discuss how pharmacology education can contribute to fostering interprofessional collaboration essential for effective pharmacotherapy.
