Through their explorations of the ‘invisible’ and the ‘sensory,’ nineteenth-century Impressionists and twentieth-century Surrealists forged new relationships between humans and the world. By reexamining today’s rapidly advancing AI and related technologies from such artistic perspectives, we may gain new ways of thinking about how we can imagine and create the future. This presentation attempts to rethink AI through two lenses: the ‘Alien’ and the ‘Botanical.’
