The Josephson plasma emitter is a terahertz source using the intrinsic Josephson junction of Bi2212 superconductor, whose radiation frequency can be controlled by an applied voltage. In this presentation, we present the optimal structure of the JPE explored by numerical simulation and its implementation results and evaluate the design method by comparison with the measurement results. This method is an important step toward realizing a JPE with a radiation intensity of more than 1 mW.
