A photonic ball is a spherical photonic crystal that exhibits structural coloration dependent on the size of the constituent nanoparticles through Bragg reflection. On the other hand, structural color owing to sharp Mie resonance in the visible range by controlling the size of silicon nanospheres is developed in our group. In this study, we fabricated the photonic ball structure composed of silicon nanoparticles and evaluated its structural coloration arising from the synergistic effect of Mie scattering and Bragg reflection.
