In this work, the analysis and demonstration of a plasmonic effect of slot rectangular waveguide is presented. The waveguide is made up of a silicon (Si) core, a silicon dioxide (SiO2) substrate, and a layer of gold (Au) around core at a distance. Parameters like the mode-effective area (MEA) and the confinement factor (CF) is studied using Finite Element Method (FEM). 900 nm is the obtained ideal distance (Mg) for placing metal to all edges of the core. The obtained MEA and CF values were ~0.44 µm2 and ~86.75 % respectively at this distance. Applications for a plasmonic slots rectangular waveguide include coupler, resonator, filter, and sensing.
