We have been working on new material transformations using borohydride compounds as starting materials. As part of this work, we have produced borophene oxide (KBOx) thin films from potassium borohydride (KBH4) using an infrared laser deposition technique. Bulk layered borophene oxide (BoL) has attracted much attention because it functions as an inorganic liquid crystal. In this talk, the latest results on KBOx thin films for the fabrication of inorganic liquid crystal devices will be presented.
