We have been challenging to replace hard materials such as metals and plastics with hydrogel, a soft-wet material, in medical electrode devices. In this presentation, we will report on the current status of the “adhesive fixation of the device to the affected part of the body” utilizing the change in size and shape due to swelling of hydrogel, modulation of nerve and muscle tissues by electrical stimulation, and a hydrogel-based fluid delivery system that can be applied to local areas.
