Aqua regia is widely used for the extraction of gold from e-waste, and the development of a safe extraction method of gold without using aqua regia is necessary in the field of environmental chemistry. In this study, our improved method for extracting gold from e-waste without using aqua regia or strong acid has been developed using alternating current (AC) bipolar electrolysis and KCl aqueous solution.
