Ultrasound flow meter utilizes pitch-catch transit time differences between two transducers to estimate flow rate. However, the requirement for multiple sensors results in large equipment size and complex flow velocity distribution analysis along the transmission path. In this report, a single sensor flow rate estimation method that utilizes the electrical property (admittance) changes in piezoelectric material due to varying boundary layer conditions with fluid (water) flow rate changes to estimate flow rate was discussed.
