To advance applications in ultra-parallel optical communication, high-density interconnects, and optical computing, the realization of high-speed and large-scale spatial light modulators is essential. Surface-normal optical modulators utilizing organic electro-optic (OEO) materials, which enable ultra-high-speed operation exceeding GHz and high-efficiency modulation, are promising for two-dimensional integration. In this presentation, we report the fabrication and demonstration of modulation characteristics of a high-Q resonant modulator achieved by introducing dimerized grating into a simple structure where OEO material is coated on a single-layer metal (Au) grating.
