Bioresorbable polymers are useful materials for medical devices used in-body, and the development of precision processing technology aimed at miniaturizing devices is progressing. In particular, bioresorbable polymer microneedles have attracted attention as a minimally invasive transdermal drug delivery technology from a safety perspective. This study is focused on applying microneedle technology to biometrological devices. We have previously fabricated a microneedle device for optical measurements, with the tip filled with a fluorescent hydrogel, aiming to realize a fluorescence detection system at the microneedle tip. In this study, for proof of concept of the device, we evaluated the functionality of a glucose-responsive boronic acid fluorescent hydrogel that can be loaded at the needle tip.
