In this study, we developed isothianaphthene quinoids annelated with electron-withdrawing pyrazines. Various physical properties measurements and quantum chemical calculations indicate that the introduction of the pyrazine rings into quinoidal oligothiophenes contributes to the stabilization of the highest occupied molecular orbital energy level and the suppression of the diradical character. The developed molecule also functioned as an acceptor material for organic thin-film solar cell. The results of this study demonstrate that the introduction of pyrazine rings into elongated quinoidal oligothiophenes is an effective way to develop organic electronics materials.
