Highly localized slow-light modes in W1 and valley photonic crystal (VPhC) waveguides are advantageous for enhancing light-matter interactions, enabling efficient optical modulators, Purcell-enhanced single photon emission, and many other nonlinear devices. Meanwhile, the enhanced nonlinearity will restrict the optical power that can be transmitted without significant signal distortion. Recent studies numerically demonstrated that VPhC heterostructure waveguides can host slow-light modes with a wide mode width. Here, we report the experimental realization of the slow-light waveguides based on VPhC heterostructure waveguides.
