GaN-PCSEL,LiDAR for ranging in water

Photonic crystal surface-emitting lasers (PCSELs) are surface-emitting lasers that utilize the resonant effect at the singularity of a two-dimensional photonic crystal placed near the active layer, enabling large-area coherent oscillation. We have adopted GaN as one of the material systems for PCSELs and have been working on the development of blue-band PCSELs. This time, we report on the results of long-distance (over 4 meters) ranging underwater using high beam quality and high power drive in PCSELs, as well as high-sensitivity SPADs.
