Organic molecular crystals including solvent molecules have been widely studied in recent years. However, these structures are easily broken when the guest solvent molecules are removed (desorption process). As a result of various investigations, we have successfully synthesized water-containing green-luminescent crystals based on fluorophore and hydrated borane. Interestingly, after heating treatment, the crystal showed red-shifted luminescence (Δλ : 100 nm, green to red). The treated crystal showed a packing structure, eliminating a part of the water. More interestingly, the crystal offers pseudo-reversible chromism based on water molecule adsorption under a normal atmosphere in Japan. These structures and characteristics were analyzed by thermogravimetric analysis, single-crystal x-ray diffraction analysis, and photoluminescence measurements in detail.
