Currently, power supply to underwater exploration Probes requires on wired cables, making sustained operation difficult if dependent on batteries.
Therefore, optical wireless power transmission is gaining attention. This study investigates the photoelectric conversion efficiency of GaInP solar cells at low temperatures, considering the application of optical wireless power transmission to underwater exploration Probes.
GaInP solar cells were irradiated with fiber lasers with wavelengths of 450nm, 532nm, and 635 nm, changing the temperatures adjusted from 5 to 60°C. The results showed that the 532 nm laser exhibited the highest photoelectric conversion efficiency, and that, the conversion efficiencies under 450nm and 532 nm lasers increased with decreasing the temperature. The 635 nm laser's efficiency plateaued below 20°C, because the short-circuit current tended to decrease at low temperatures.
