We have developed the double-sided strip detector (CdTe-DSD) with high energy resolution using CdTe diodes, aiming to apply its advanced imaging technology in various fields, such as highly sensitive hard X-ray space observation and pharmacokinetic imaging for cancer treatment. To achieve this, it is essential to first understand the detector's performance. In this study, we evaluated the performance of a 1 mm thick CdTe-DSD. The detection area is 32 mm square, with 128 strip electrodes on each side arranged orthogonally. Two-dimensional imaging is possible by obtaining one-dimensional energy information from each strip and combining the readout positions of strips on both sides. We evaluated the detector in terms of the imaging and spectral performance affected by the applied voltage to both sides of the electrodes, the operational temperature of it, and the operation time ranging from several hours to one day, as well as the dependence of detected energy on depth of interaction.
